Location/Directions
Nurture & Nature is conveniently located off Route 85 in Newfields. From Route 101 East/West, take Exit 10/Route 85. Follow Route 85 North into Newfields for 1.6 miles. See a sign for Hutchinson Sealing Systems and turn right. At less than 100 yards, take your first right. You'll see our center on the right, just past the curve in the road.
Meals
The center provides all children with breakfast. Lunches are brought from home. The center also serves morning and afternoon snacks as well as beverages. Every Monday is a Pizza Day. Once a month, Amelia, the center's director, provides children with a free homemade lunch.
Late Pick Ups
Parents who arrive after 5:30 pm are required to pay a late fee of $10.00 per 15 minutes directly to the staff member who has worked past closing hours.
Visiting and Communicating
We have an open-door policy for all parents. Please feel free to drop by or call at any time to check on your child. Daily news slips are sent home, outlining highlights of your child's day. Developmental progress reports are sent home periodically to assess your child's social, physical, and cognitive growth. Parent/Teacher conferences are arranged at that time, or at any other time throughout the year at parent's / teacher's request. A quarterly newsletter keeps you updated on all the latest happenings.
Staff and Discipline
Nurture and Nature day care center meets or exceeds state standards for teacher : child ratios for all age groups. Children are encouraged to rethink their inappropriate actions with some quiet contemplation. We believe children who are busily engaged in activities have less need to be reminded of unacceptable behavior.
Sickness
State regulations require that children/teachers be excluded from the center when they are ill. Please see our separate section on "Policies".
