Philosophy

At Nurture & Nature, we believe parents are a child's most important teachers. Our goal is to support this vital role through close communication and active involvement. We encourage parents to engage in daily conversations, help with special events and projects, join field trips, assist with fundraising, and volunteer as board members. This partnership is essential for providing the best possible care for every child.

We organize our learning environments by age and developmental stage, respecting each child as a unique individual. Children learn through play, exploration, creation, and manipulation in a relaxed, unhurried setting. We encourage children to develop self-control and manage their own behavior. We lead by example, fostering an environment of love, empathy, and caring, and we celebrate differences, valuing each person's uniqueness.

Cultivating Growth and Curiosity

Nurture & Nature provides a dynamic learning environment, thoughtfully dividing children by age into groups like Infants (Sweetpeas) and Preschoolers (Snapdragons). Our theme-based curriculum connects classrooms and families, with teachers personalizing activities to suit each child's development and cultural background. We foster a love for learning through play, multicultural exploration, and carefully prepared environments that encourage curiosity and self-expression. Our aim is to empower every child to reach their full potential and embrace their unique identity.

Classes and Curriculum

  • Classrooms are divided into the following groups: Infants (Sweetpeas), Pre-Toddlers (Daisies), Toddlers (Sunflowers), Preschool 1 (Lilacs) and Preschool 2 (Snapdragons). Our curriculum design begins with a universal theme as a basis for the monthly, weekly and daily offerings. A universal theme lends itself to a common language between classrooms and families. The teachers develop the curriculum offerings in each classroom not only with developmental appropriateness in mind but to reflect the individual children and their families.

  • Multicultural exploration and celebrating is important in our center. We study a different country each month and children learn about an architectural structure, an animal and an artist from that country. They learn to say hello and goodbye in the corresponding country's language and also help prepare or taste different foods.

  • Each classroom environment is crafted weekly by the teaching staff to support the center theme and the needs of the children within the classroom.  The prepared environment is developed by the staff in each room. Each learning center is organized and inviting, welcoming children to explore at their own discretion and speed. Teachers balance each day with group individual time, teacher directed time, free choice time and outdoor play periods. Lesson plans are posted weekly outside each classroom.  Daily routines are also posted and maintained to provide a secure and consistent environment for each child.

    1. Allowing each child the opportunity to grow to his/her fullest potential by recognizing stages of development and preparing play/learning environments that nurture and facilitate their growth.

    2. Giving each child the opportunity to express their feelings, to gradually understand them and develop self-control.

    3. Helping children develop respect for themselves, other children and adults and the environment around them.
